CHRISTMAS VILLAGE

In 2018, C. Scenic was awarded the design bid on the Dallas Arboretum’s Christmas Village as donated by Pauline and Austin Neuhoff. This annual event is a pop-up hamlet within the Arboretum inspired by European Christmas Markets, also known as Christkindlmarket. It features several themed buildings as charming shops with graphic interiors that have hidden animals for children to search for as part of a scavenger hunt, as well as shopkeepers who hand out small rewards and samples. Within the village, there is also a tavern and several local vendors that set up shop for concessions as guests roam the village and other seasonal exhibits.

The design was phased out into a two-year process. The first phase in 2018 included the majority of the designs for: Santa Haus, Candy Shop, Hat Shop, Bookstore, Butcher’s, Pharmacy, Carpenter Shop, Cobbler, Flower Shop, and the Clock Tower, as well as inheriting the Bakery from a previous designer to complete. The second phase was completed in 2019 for the primary village design with the Chocolate Shop and Toy Store, as well as designs for a Grocery, Clockmaker, and Dressmaker Shops, though these have yet to be built for the village. A third expansion was added in 2020 for the Brewhaus and Vendor Chalets.
